What impact do tariffs have on lab supplies procurement?

Have your lab supplies or equipment been affected by tariffs either recently or in the past? Did you change your operations or supplies because of tariffs?

A few companies have sent emails explaining the increase in cost. Nothing could cost more than it did during the pandemic and no one bothered to apologize then; if we got through that then we will make it through this, no problem. Some companies never brought their pricing back down even after the pandemic so I'm guessing they have some room to absorb the tariffs- imo. During the pandemic we learned to conserve and reuse as much as possible so it was a great lesson on how sustainable we could actually be! It's just a new challenge a great way to test our resilience 🙃...challenge accepted!

How to reduce unnecessary Regulated Medical Waste?

Hi all. I've been working with our EHS team to create signage and webinars to increase awareness of what should and should not go into the red bags and sharps containers (RMW). I know that some institutions are stricter than other (e.g. they want everything from labs to go to RMW), but for those labs that don't have such strict rules, what kind of messaging work? What are the common mistake you see researchers doing when it comes to RMW? What are the most common questions?

Compostable Animal Bedding and Waste

I made a little infographic visual for describing animal waste and bedding compost.

Not sure if I'll do more with it - but please share your feedback 🤔 about how I can improve it 🤓 or what it does well! 😍

Thanks 💚 Maya

This is great, Maya! Its a really good start to help folks understand what we mean by animal bedding. The most common concern for a lot of programs is going to be the animal excrement (What's in it? What animal is it from?). I'm not sure how to capture that here, but maybe there could be a branch showing the bedding from the most accepted species or research areas?
